Download Mode Mode

How to enter devices into Download Mode mode — steps for popular brands and models.

Download Mode (sometimes called Odin Mode on Samsung) is a special low-level boot state used by GSM technicians to flash firmware, unlock bootloaders, bypass FRP, and repair bricked devices. It bypasses the normal Android startup and lets your tool communicate directly with the device's bootloader over USB.

This guide covers how to enter Download Mode on five popular brands. Always connect the device with a working data cable and make sure you have the correct driver installed on your PC before proceeding.

Samsung (Odin / Download Mode)

Samsung devices use a dedicated Download Mode that pairs with Odin, Z3X, Octoplus and similar tools.

Method 1 — Button combo (most models):

  1. Power the device off completely.

  2. Press and hold Volume Down + Bixby (or Home) + Power until a warning screen appears.

  3. Press Volume Up to confirm and enter Download Mode.

Method 2 — USB jig / Deep flash cable:

  • For models without a physical combo (A-series, newer S-series), connect a deep flash cable to trigger Download Mode automatically.

Method 3 — ADB command:

  • adb reboot download

    Supported Android versions: 7 · 8 · 9 · 10 · 14
